To me and my skin tone a contour is a cool shade, and on me this is a bronzer. Let me first say this is not a contour palette. I have spent a bit on contouring products and palettes and haven’t found one that has all shades I enjoy and will use. I purchased this when it was on special just to try it out. I’m trying to pan my other contour kit so I can focus on this one. That gives me a crisp contour with no blurred lines. I go in with my banana powder to sharpen my contour lines. Then I go in with highlight on my nose and top of my blush line. Second I go in with my Round blusher brush from Real techniques doing my cheeks. Go in with small brush to contour my nose. Chisel out my cheeks with my morphe angled contour brush. I like to brush around the top of my forehead. I like to start with this contour shade in number one. The blush has a matte finish and finally the highlight which has a subtle highlight. The contour shade brown for contouring has a matte finish. Packaging is nothing special clear window case. Now if I ever go back there I’m stocking up on my drugstore brands. Their never going to be this cheap in nz. I’m kicking myself now thinking why didn’t I buy three of them. It definitely gives my Butter Bronzer, and even high-end bronzers, a run for their money! The deeper shades will definitely be purchased in the near future once it starts to warm up and as I get a tan. Based on the color tone, this bronzer would also be perfect for a soft nose contour. I found that it started to noticeably fade about 7-8 hours in aka you can easily get through a full work day with a bomb contour. And not only does it go on like a dream, it stays all day long. It’s super soft thanks to the addition of cocoa butter in the ingredients and you can tell when applying. When it comes to application, the Maybelline City Bronzer glides smoothly on the skin. I picked up the shade Light because….your girl is pale! The shade looks to be fairly cool toned but has just a touch of warmth.
Generally, you can get by with a range of different skin tones with these so it’s not too bad but Maybelline could definitely expand the color range in the future. It’s actually a few dollars cheaper than my Butter Bronzer so I’m on board so far! The shade selection isn’t stellar with only 3 shades – light, medium, and deep.
